Apple's Best New iOS 26 Feature Has Been on Pixel Phones for Years
Apple's Best New iOS 26 Feature Has Been on Pixel Phones for Years The iPhone's new software screens your calls using machine intelligence. Neat, but Google had the feature first--just like so many other features that rely on AI to work. Call Screening on an iPhone. Ever since I was a child, I've despised answering the phone when an unknown number calls. Who could be on the other end?

Key Pixel Settings to Change on Your Google Phone
Google's Pixel phones are chock-full of helpful, smart features, and they capture some of the best-looking photographs on a mobile device. But like several of its peers, Google doesn't have many of its best features turned on by default. For example, Call Screening blocks unwanted phone calls on your behalf, and you need to turn it on yourself. I test smartphones for a living, and I'm constantly switching to a new device every week or two. I'm an expert at running through the settings of every phone I test and toggling on the features I want.

Google Pixel 10 event brings new phones, smartwatch, earbuds and AI
The CyberGuy explains steps you can take to protect yourself from scams. Google kicked off its Made by Google event last week with blockbuster energy. Jimmy Fallon played host, bringing humor and star presence. Steph Curry highlighted how the Pixel 10 empowers creators and athletes to capture and share their stories. Lando Norris, fresh from the F1 circuit, showed off how Pixel's speed and AI enhancements fit into fast-paced lives. And the Jonas Brothers premiered a music video filmed entirely on the new Pixel 10 Pro, proving the phone's camera is ready for professional-grade production. From the first moment, Google made it clear: this was no ordinary reveal.

10 Crazy Features Powering Google's Pixel 10 Phones (and Watch)
The hallmark of Google's Pixel phones has always been the software, whether that's through breakthroughs in computational photography or Google's call screening tech that blocks pesky robocalls. Google today announced the Pixel 10 series, alongside a smartwatch and wireless earbuds, and with them come a slew of new artificial intelligence features ready to wow you. Soniya Jobanputra, director of product management at Google, tells WIRED the Pixel 10 series is all about giving you back time by "taking the mundane and boring out of your life." Let's take a look at exactly how it plans to do that through these software features, some of which may land on older Pixel phones and even other Android phones in the future. That seems to be what Google is implying with its latest addition to the Pixel Camera app: Camera Coach.

iPhone expert tests Apple Intelligence features on iOS 18 - then AI does something odd with his text messages
Apple's Mail got a little smarter with Apple Intelligence, adding functions including Priority Messages and Smart Reply - although in all honesty, it's still not the best email app out there. Messaging apps and email now have summaries auto-generated from content - although they are often unusual. Many of the summaries seem to bear little relation to what is actually in my Inbox - one simply said, 'Saucy line needs reordering'. Another said that Chris who I was emailing had failed his driving test and then got a speeding ticket - which would have been difficult after failing the test - when Chris had not taken any form of driving test. Priority Messages picks messages you might be interested in and places them at the top of your inbox (they're sorted by, for example, whether they sound time-sensitive).

Pixel Buds Pro 2 review: Tiny earbuds with big sound and a direct line to Gemini
Google's Pixel Buds series has always been a worthy companion for its Pixel phones. The company only lacks a set of over-ear headphones to offer similar options to what Apple provides for iPhone users. Of course, Google got a later start than its rival, but like its Silicon Valley counterpart, the company has designed its earbuds to work best with its own devices. You'll need both a phone and earbuds from Google to get the best features. That's unlikely to change anytime soon.

We tested the two top AI-powered phones made by Samsung and Google to see if they actually improve your daily life... so is Apple going to be left behind by the AI smartphone revolution?
It's been just over a year since the launch of ChatGPT sent the world AI-crazy. So it's no surprise that tech giants now want to integrate and promote the artificial intelligence capabilities in all their new gadgets - from laptops to TVs. But it's smartphones that look set to be one of the biggest AI battlegrounds. Apple's next iPhone is heavily rumored to have loads of new AI-powered features. Samsung and Google have also gone all-in on AI in phones, with their latest S24 Ultra and Pixel 8 Pro (out this year and late last year respectively) both being marketed heavily on their AI capabilities.

30 Best Early Amazon Prime Day Deals 2023: Pixel Phones, Amazon Devices, and Robot Vacuums
It's the annual sales event where the retailer slashes prices on thousands of products across its online storefront (and triggers similar sales on other retailers too). Prime Day, over time, has become two full days of shopping instead of one, and in 2022 there were two Prime Day events, one in the summer and one in the fall (because money). This year's Prime Day event falls on July 11 and 12, starting at 3 am Eastern time. You need to be a Prime subscriber to take advantage of the discounts (here's a free 30-day trial; set a reminder to cancel it before it automatically renews), but there are plenty of deals for anyone who isn't a member. WIRED will be scouring the platform to bring you the best deals throughout the event, but there's good news: Price drops have already started. We rounded up the best early Prime Day deals we've found right here--on Amazon and other retailers--and we'll keep this story updated. Pixel phones receive a slew of new features like improved car crash detection
Google just added a bunch of new features for Pixel smartphone owners in a system update. First of all, there's a major improvement to the car crash detection feature, as it now not only contacts emergency services but automatically shares real-time location information with emergency contacts. To that end, the update also makes it easier to start emergency sharing or schedule a safety check by allowing for voice controls. The recording feature got a major update here, with a new ability to export transcripts into Google Docs and generate labels based on who's speaking so you can easily find the clip you want later. The photo timer also got a refresh, letting you initiate self-timed photos by raising your palm to start a countdown.
